The co-op process
Remember the new format I was trying for my resume? Yeah, the one that notes: Number of shirts ripped off my back by unsatisfied clients: 1.
I applied to 11 positions, each of which met the following criteria:
Each position got more or less the same resume and a custom cover letter. So far, I am batting 1000: four positions have screened their applicants, and I have been successful in attaining interviews in all four.
I expect this to change when Microsoft does its screens. Why? Well... the resume wasn't the only variable I was playing with. In response to a vague job posting, the Microsoft Program Manager position got this cover letter:
I'll keep you posted! (So far the interviews are with the University of Waterloo's Instructional Support Group, with Morgan Stanley's IT Department and in the Development Team at Fanfare Group.)

- the job was well-ranked on CoopRankings.com
- the job is here in Waterloo or in a neat international location

You got a fucking interview with Microsoft after sending them that letter?
Sweet Jesus. I should have had you complete my law job applications-I'd be skipping third year and be a senior partner somewhere at this point.
