Software quality metrics
I bet you the software world is the only one which allows the makers of one product to claim that its competition's product is only 0.000000002% as good of a product?
I used to think it was stupid that people claimed Windows 2000 was 50 times more reliable than Windows 98 -- such precision! such a bold, factual statement! -- but to claim your product is 4,900,000 times better? That's messed up.
